Citizen Vintage officially turns 5 years old today and we can barely handle how fast time has gone by. It feels like just yesterday we sold our first vintage item. It was a lovely floral print red skirt for $34 and we made sure to harass the woman who bought it for a picture. She was kind enough to play along. But really, looking back we realize just how much has happened and how much we've grown and learned in such a short time. We couldn't be happier with the additions to the shop and the team that we have working with us.
Before we take you down the memory lane photo series, we think that we should first start by saying a huge THANK YOU to our customers! Seriously, you are the best and without you, well, we would not be able to celebrate this wonderful milestone. A huge part of who we are is supporting and involving the Montreal creative community through the shop. And to have the community support us right back is the most magical feeling. So we will say it again, thank you sooooo very much. We hope to keep seeing you in the shop for many more years to come :)
We want to talk about the work that has gone into the shop over the years and kind of remind you and ourselves as to why we so proudly stand behind what we do. Both having grown up with parents that were all about thrifting and digging for vintage treasures played a huge part. Thanks moms! Secondly, we are saving the planet (just a little bit, but still...) Seriously though, we have reached a scary point in fast fashion and consumerism that makes us a little uncomfortable. So we do believe that we are playing our responsible part by reusing, recycling and up-cycling. And lastly, we will say that the joy in finding vintage is knowing that the risk of running into someone wearing the exact same top as you, is slim to none :)
Now lets take a look back on the last 5 years...
